CAMPAIGN TRAILS is a specialist South African Ground Operator
arranging and conducting tours to historic sites of military
conflict. The niche operation has detailed in-depth knowledge
of the Battlefield area and with over five years experience we
can ensure that all clients are conducted safely and efficiently.
Our on-the-ground specialists are based in KwaZulu-Natal and
cover the Anglo Zulu and Anglo Boer War engagements in that province
- as well as arranging visits to Cape Town, Kimberley and the
other notable places of historic interest throughout South Africa
for detailed offers based on first hand experience.
Promotion and support in the UK is from two military historians
who have organised adventure-training packages for regular forces
and groups. They are able to support Operators and Agents with
first-hand information on the destination and to carry out particular
historical research, eg for client families.
We invite clients to discover the adventurous pioneering spirit
that created South Africa and its effect on history. How British
and Dutch peoples explored this enormous country in the 18th
and 19th centuries with feats of valour, bravery and sacrifice
in events of high passion and drama. We draw on the personal
experiences of both sides of the many conflicts against the social
and technical realities of the era and invite clients to make
their own conclusions on the ability and fortune of the commanders.
Our historical tours take you into the social environment of
earlier times and show how political and military events and
shaped modern history and the present. Some preparatory reading
is beneficial to the full appreciation of our Trails and a reading
list is available.
Trails are offered to Tour Operators for inclusion with F.I.T.
client itineraries and these can be adapted to meet special
historical interests (famous or infamous ancestors, connections
with particular units) and the activity level can also be matched
to client capabilities.
We are able to offer variations with different levels of comfort
and corresponding cost to match the following marques;
Commander: Full services of a qualified historian guide for
the duration of the trail; accommodation in international standard
lodges and hotels; travel in own vehicle with the guide or be
driven in air-conditioned safari vehicle. Individual attention
and presentations.

transport or meet the guide at pre-arranged locations with their

can be organised on bunkhouse arrangements, usually with some
