holidays in the hoofprints of history

Touring base in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal

Convenient for Boer and Zulu War excursions.

49 Cove Crescent, Ladysmith 3370

49 COVE CRESCENT on Reservoir Hill commands impressive views over the historic town of Ladysmith and is a perfect base for exploring the local area which includes the Zulu War and Boer War Battlefields. The town is a modern light industrial centre with international calibre factories that give it the convenience of modern shopping malls and facilities. The Victorian origin of the town is evident with many period buildings that present an unchanged backdrop to the historic siege of 119 days for which the whole British Empire held its breath in 1900. The excellent museum and many memorials make interesting points of discovery and the locations of the many engagements are easily identified from the ridges that form the spine of the town. Short expeditions to Wagon Hill, Bulwana and the many other unchanged geographical features reveal the whole perspective.
