3 Days / 2 Nights
Day One
Drive to Dundee. Meet your
specialist guide at Talana museum at midday for
a background to our tour pertaining to the
foundation of the rainbow nation that is South
Africa today; before driving towards the Buffalo
River, border to Zululand and our destination
for the night. Overnight in comfortable but
remote accommodation near the mission
church. (D)
Day Two
Today we cover the Zulu nation
and their clashes with the British. We visit
Isandlwana where 1329 well equipped British
soldiers were slaughtered during a
well-orchestrated Zulu attack. From there we
drive to Fugitive Drift where we tell of the
heroic saving of the Queen's Colour. We then,
later that afternoon, spend time at Rorke's
Drift where a handful of brave British soldiers
defended the post against the onslaught of 4,000
attacking Zulu warriors. Overnight as last
night. (BD)
Day Three
This morning we move 20 years
on to the Boer War battlefields. We visit the
town besieged for 118 days, Ladysmith, and drive
to the summit of Spioenkop Mountain. This blood
soaked acre is the battlefield site where the
British made a second attempt to break through
the Boer lines to reach Ladysmith. After lunch
we'll depart for home. (B)
